Recently, AQSIQ has replied People’s Government of Hunan Province regarding the proposal for construction of a designated imported meat inspection site in Xiangtan. AQSIQ, in principle, approved the proposal for construction of a designated imported meat inspection site in Xiangtan, which marks the official opening of the construction of a designated imported meat inspection site in Xiangtan. The port platform of Xiangtan will add a new function, and the platform for opening will be further improved.
Xiangtan is a major city of meat production, processing and export in Hunan Province, whose export volume represents more than 60% of the total export volume of Hunan Province. According to statistics, the daily consumption of imported meat in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan region is about 1000 tons, with goods value about RMB15 million, and paid customs duties and VAT up to RMB3.4 million.
