On June 6, 2017, Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone signed strategic cooperation agreement with Hunan Sodality of U.S.A in Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone. Fu Jun, Deputy Mayor of Xiangtan Municipal People’s Government, Wang Haimei, Chief of American Continent Section of Hunan Commerce Department, Liu Xiaou, Chief of Commerce Section of Hunan Sodality of U.S.A, Li Hanjun, Deputy Secretary-general of Xiangtan Municipal People’s Government, Liao Meizhou, President of Hunan Hongda Mining Co., Ltd, Zhu Youhong, Deputy Party Secretary of Xiangtan Economic Development Zone Party Working Committee and Director of Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone Management Committee, Zhou Wenbing, Member of Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone Working Committee and Deputy Director of Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone Management Committee and other leaders attended the signing ceremony.
Hunan Sodality of U.S.A was founded on April 19, 2005, with headquarters in San Francisco, U.S.A., which is established and operated by Hunanese in America. At present, it has more than 1000 members, aiming to contact fellowship, serve Hunanese, help domestic and overseas communities to strengthen research, development and communication in education, culture, medical treatment and technology, and provide various social services. Its new chairman Ouyang Feipeng selected in 2017 is an outstanding financier in U.S.A from Youxian County, Hunan.
Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone is a new height of Xiangtan and even Hunan’s open economy development. Xiangtan Economic Development Zone and Comprehensive Bonded Zone practice the principles of “two zones sharing a same team and implementing integrated operation” according to Hunan Province’s strategy of “Leading with Innovation, and Developing through Opening-up” and the goal of constructing a multifunctional trade integration and development base, becoming the fourth “100-billion zone” in Hunan Province. At present, it has attracted 32 enterprises inside the zone, and 70 export & import enterprises outside the zone, including 24 foreign-funded enterprises, with some Fortune 500 enterprises, such as Schaeffler, Megna, Eberspacher and Metal One. Leveraging the advantages of rich resources, convenient location and outstanding industry, it has gradually established fast customs clearance platform, enterprise service platform, port function platform, bonded commodity center, cross-border transaction platform, and international trade comprehensive service platform, facilitating the integrated development of domestic trade and foreign trade, online business and offline business, business and commerce, and outside and inside, gradually becoming the demonstration base of open economy and tourism shopping, and marching towards the aim of being a first-class zone in China.
According to the provision of agreement, Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Hunan Sodality of U.S.A will jointly implement the plan of “exporting Hunan’s goods to U.S.A, and attracting American enterprises to settle in Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone”, that is to say, utilizing Hunan Sodality of U.S.A’s regional influence and advantages in America to promote Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone and the culture, product and tourism of Xiangtan, attract high quality enterprises and products to Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone, and promote high quality products of Xiangtan and Hunan in America. Both parties will give full play of their advantages to facilitate people communication and resource sharing, deepen cooperation and communication in economy, trade, culture and tourism, and realize mutual development. In addition, both parties will carry out cooperation in other fields, such as overseas warehousing, enterprise attraction, investment visit and product agency.
Wang Haimei said the strategic cooperation between Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Hunan Sodality of U.S.A was the specific action to carry out the strategy of “Leading with Innovation, and Developing through Opening-up”. It should take such opportunity to connect Hunan enterprises, construct a new Hunan, attract Fortune 500 enterprises, improve large-scale industries, and introduce more achievements by carrying out strategic cooperation, constructing platform, smoothing channels and promoting communication with outside world, especially with America which owns about 1/3 Fortune 500 enterprises.
Liu Xiaou, on behalf of Hunan Sodality of U.S.A, expressed Chairman Ouyang Feipeng’s gratitude to Hunan’s trust and support. He said Hunan Sodality of U.S.A would firmly support the national “One Belt and One Road” strategy and Hunan’s “Leading with Innovation, and Developing through Opening-up” strategy, and spare no effort to use all resources of Hunan Sodality to perform the strategic agreement and make due contribution to Hunan’s economic development and social progress.
Zhu Youhong gave a detailed introduction about the development history, industrial features, development planning and development situation of Xiangtan Economic Zone and Comprehensive Bonded Zone. He said the cooperation with Hunan Sodality was highly in line with the goal of Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone to establish a multifunctional trade integration and development base, and Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone would carry out deep negotiation with Hunan Sodality to jointly promote the plan of “exporting Hunan’s goods to U.S.A, and attracting American enterprises to settle in Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone”.
Fu Jun expressed that he hoped both parties would strengthen communication and cooperation based on the strategic agreement, to allow more excellent American enterprises to understand Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone and invest in Xiangtan, facilitate more excellent Xiangtan enterprises and products to enter American, and bridge the economic, social and cultural communication between China and America. Beside, he hoped that a bridge linking ethnic Chinese, overseas Chinese and hometown would be established through Hunan Sodality.
